Cecil and Fannie Ruth Jones moved up to Garden Valley in the Sierra Foothills in 1979 on 10 acres. He continued to be involved with the RRR as well as other PRCA rodeos and judged several rodeos. he still worked at the NFR Rodeo Gold Card Room as a Host. He still attends the Finals and has done so since 1959.

In 1979 he met Ed Bacchi of Bacchi Land & Cattle Co. and helped him yearly with his cattle here at his Lotus, Ca and For Klamath, Oregon ranches. He also schooled a few horses for them to use.

He became involved as a volunteer with the Reno Rodeo Cattle Drive that is held in June before the Reno Rodeo until he was 83years old and his wife, Fan, saw a video on the news of me running his horse, Suzi, down the hill at full throttle and she said that was it..."no more acting like you are 25 years old!" He also was involved with Reno Rodeo's Exceptional Rodeo, for children who were suffering from different medical conditions.

In 1997 he was inducted into the National Cowboy Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City and in 2000, he was inducted into the ProRodeo Hall of Fame in Colorado Springs. In 1996 he heard about a therapeutic organization for special kids to ride horses. So he became involved with Ride and Shine Adaptive Horseback Riding Program. he is still involved and volunteers 2 days a week helping with the kids and horses.

In 2003 the El Dorado Board of Supervisors presented him with a Certificate of Commendation for his dedication to the community service through Ride and Shine. He still is out there twice a week helping the children and doing what he can to make things fun for them.
