Cecil
and Fannie Ruth Jones moved up to Garden Valley in
the Sierra Foothills in 1979 on 10 acres. He
continued to be involved with the RRR as well as
other PRCA rodeos and judged several rodeos. he
still worked at the NFR Rodeo Gold Card Room as a
Host. He still attends the Finals and has done so
since 1959.
In 1979 he met Ed Bacchi of Bacchi Land & Cattle Co.
and helped him yearly with his cattle here at his
Lotus, Ca and For Klamath, Oregon ranches. He also
schooled a few horses for them to use.
He became involved as a volunteer with the Reno
Rodeo Cattle Drive that is held in June before the
Reno Rodeo until he was 83years old and his wife,
Fan, saw a video on the news of me running his
horse, Suzi, down the hill at full throttle and she
said that was it..."no more acting like you are 25
years old!" He also was involved with Reno Rodeo's
Exceptional Rodeo, for children who were suffering
from different medical conditions.
In 1997 he was inducted into the National Cowboy
Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City and in 2000, he was
inducted into the ProRodeo Hall of Fame in Colorado
Springs. In 1996 he heard about a therapeutic
organization for special kids to ride horses. So he
became involved with Ride and Shine Adaptive
Horseback Riding Program. he is still involved and
volunteers 2 days a week helping with the kids and
horses.

In 2003 the El Dorado Board of Supervisors presented
him with a Certificate of Commendation for his
dedication to the community service through Ride and
Shine. He still is out there twice a week helping
the children and doing what he can to make things
