The Rowell Ranch Rodeo is pleased to announce our annual Special Partners Rodeo. This event will be limited to 40 local children with mental or physical challenges between the ages of 4 and 17, and their family members limited to no more than 5. All will be guests of the Rowell Ranch Rodeo for a day of western style family fun. Our mission is to help inspire greatness in special children as they become cowboys and cowgirls for the day.

Our Special Partners will participate in modified and simulated rodeo events in the same arena where the professional rodeo cowboys will compete later in the afternoon. Each Special Partner will be paired with a real cowboy or cowgirl to guide and help them in the arena as they move from event to event. Volunteers will be monitoring safety as they help out at each of the event stations. Our Special Partners will rope practice steer heads, ride the teeter board bucking horses, race around the barrels on stick horses, pitch rings on brightly colored poles and hoot and holler as they get into the fun of rodeo. Family members are encouraged to take pictures and join in on the hootin and hollerin to get their special cowboy or cowgirl to bring on that big smile and give all of us the official cowboy hat wave.

When the riding and roping is done, all of our special cowboys and cowgirls will be awarded engraved Rowell Ranch Rodeo Special Partner belt buckles. They will be presented with help from our Rowell Ranch Rodeo Queen and members of Hayward Firefighters Local 1909, our first and most generous sponsor, and providers of the western BBQ lunch that follows. During and after lunch there will always be a surprise for entertainment. In the past years we have had Cowboy poets and singers, Native American drummers, dancers and story tellers and Real Rodeo Cowboys. The day keeps on rolling with our Special Partners and their Families invited to be our guests to watch the afternoon performance of real professional rodeo action.
